Merino Wool Sliver – 500gm
Merino wool is very soft with a closely spaced crimp. You can spin a fine woollen yarn using the long draw or a worsted yarn using a short draw. Merino is ideal for super fine knitting, crochet and lacework.
Ashford merino wool is 100% pure New Zealand wool. Their merino wool is grown on sheep farms in the South Island of New Zealand where the sheep graze on large grassy paddocks and are free from mulesing. They only use wool with good length that is free from breaks, has high bulk, brightness, low vegetable matter and is the correct micron.

I have used three of the Merino Sliver 500 grams in the Turquoise, Toffee, Natural Grey and the Sorbet which has silk also.
I find the fibre to be the highest grade I have ever spun and particularly love the Natural Grey it’s just so light and magnificent to spin.
I have finished two Ashford Boomerang Shawl patterns, in the Merino colour wools and so pleased with the outcome. I am now spinning and knitting the large triangular shawl from the first Ashford book released. I have been spinning over 50 years from when one could only start with a filthy dirt and thorn riddled fleece and spend a week preparing the laborious process finally carding to now after a 20 year break being able to buy exquisite colour options of such high quality.
