I'm very happy with my Turkish spindle. (As an aside, this style of spindle is traditional in Turkey and central Asia, the name isn't just something chosen randomly to make it sound exotic.) This is my first spindle, to date I've only ever spun on a wheel, so I'm still on a learning curve. That will improve with practice. If you've not used a spindle before you may want to watch some videos on how to spin with a Turkish spindle in addition to reading the instructions that come with it to get started.
One of the advantages of a Turkish spindle compared to some other styles is that the yarn you make is automatically wound into a centre pull ball, which will then simplify plying it if you want to do so. If not, you've got a single ply centre pull ball ready to go.
A spindle is a great for both affordable and portable spinning.
